About 800 Colorado children are in need of adoptive families, so a Heart of the Rockies Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is helping them find “forever homes” by displaying a newly created “Heart Gallery Too,” a display containing images and information about 31 Colorado children who are awaiting adoption. The church has invited the public to drop in at the church, view the photos of children waiting for adoption, and learn more about the adoption process and resources for families hoping to adopt in Larimer County. “Heart Galleries are both an art exhibit and a compelling way to interest adults in adoption,” said Richard Fischer, a Windsor resident who helped create the gallery. It contains images and information about 31 Colorado children who “are waiting and hoping for a forever family,” according to Fischer. The high-quality photos are riveting and capture the personality of each child or sibling group, he said. “Most of the children are older, and have waited a long time.” The gallery is based on a simple idea that has already proven successful across the United States. Most Heart Galleries are elaborate displays shown in shopping malls or government buildings. The new mini gallery was designed for the smaller buildings of faith organizations, said Fischer. The Heart Gallery Too has been touring Colorado since October 2008 and between October 2008 and February 2009, 17 of the 31 original children have had families call interested in starting the process of adopting. The Heart Gallery Too will have 16 brand new photos of legally free children at the open house, if you are interested in hosting the Heart Gallery Too at your church or location, please call Dick Fischer at 970-696-7412. |
